What rock are you throwing in the pond of life?

There are approximately 7 billion people on our amazing planet. Our world has changed dramatically over the last 100 yrs, some good and some bad. Majority of these changes have all started with 1 person. Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, and Thomas Edison to name just a few. There are others that have made an impact on negative changes but we need more positive in our modern culture. What we do on a daily basis has an effect not only on our life but on the lives of others, including the world.

Check before tossing

In other words, think before speaking. Our words have the most impact on others. A lot of times, you are not able to see the ‘true’ reaction of the listener. So….do you want to be someone known to inspire others or someone that drains the joy of others? This can be a tough one for some to answer. For me, this is a no brainer. I am one that always try lifting others up, even on my worst days battling with my depression. Make sure you check your thoughts before you speak them.

The ripple effect

Our words are just like the stones we threw in the pond as children. If you are like me, I still throw rocks in the pond. What we say and do not only affects the person we are saying / doing it to but also to the others close to both people. Just like how the pond ripples reach all edges, our actions have the same effect. Look at what Alexander Graham Bell accomplished. It all started with a simple “Watson, come here! I want to see you!” and now we all walk around with a mobile phone. His invention has made an impact on the world and daily life.

Changing rocks

As a child, I would pick up and then drop several rocks until I found the right one that I was looking for. You can do the same thing and you can do it right now as you are reading this. That negative / evil thought you have on your mind right now…GET RID OF IT! Now replace it with something simple yet positive, like…. what are you thankful for today? Ask yourself this question or something similar every morning you wake up. If you do this, you will start to notice a change in all aspects of your life.

The world may be large with a lot of people, but you can still make a difference. Our planet needs more positive changes. Are you up for the task? Don’t let the negative people in the world stop you! You have the talent, passion, and motive to keep moving forward. If you are one of the negative people, I ask that you drop the rock in your hand and replace it with a positive one. Remember, the ripples you cause reaches out to everyone. Until my next post….SHARE. INSPIRE. CONQUER.

Love the idea of finding the right “rock.” I’m a rockhound, so that really speaks to me. I’m grateful today to finally have internet despite it’s slooooowness.

I love this post! This exact concept has been on my mind a lot lately because a number of my friends and acquaintances are expecting babies. They report “on the regular” the comments people make about their bodies, I’ve certainly had this experience as well. Be aware of how your message to someone else might affect them – kindness matters so much. And no matter how you dice it, telling a woman who is 32 weeks pregnant that she looks “just miserable” is not kind.
